The Weekly Gimme: Tom's Shabby Chic Classics

$58, Tom's
Yes, I know that I have now posted TWO floral shoes on this site. I can't help it, I just love this floral trend. It speaks to my Victorian heart. I also love Tom's, even though their coolness factor has severely waned. Yes, they're a bit ugly in shape, but they come in adorable fabrics and they're so very comfortable.

I suppose people get excited about the charity thing too, but whatevs.

The issue with Tom's is that they get dirty very easily, and I find them difficult to clean. They're also so convenient and comfortable that I find myself wearing only them for weeks at a time.

Review: Murad Clarifying Cleanser

$26, Sephora
I got a sample of this last year when I purchased my Mason Pearson hairbrush from Beauty.com. (It's really difficult for me to resist those Gift with Purchases, which explains the Space NK haul this week.) I like this cleanser, but I don't think it's anything special.

Things I Like: February Edition

February

I haven't had time to put up any real product reviews in between avoiding my homework, chaining episodes of Arthur and baking weekday cakes. I thought I would write five mini product reviews, based on things I've been using quite a bit this month.

Tuesdays with the TA Cat

I've been watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch on Hulu lately. It's TGIF every fucking night up in the Totes Adorb household. The Totes Adorb Cat is pretty much like Salem, only fluffier. Here she is modeling the latest fashion: purple RL sweater vest.

TAC is pretty good about wearing clothes. I'm considering making a little closet with little hangers for her, but Scot keeps vetoing that idea.

The Weekly Gimme: a-morir Sunglasses

$250, a-morir
These look delicious. The little flowers look like the candy flowers found on cakes. They make me hungry and I want them.

January Glossyboxy

January Glossybox

Like I mentioned earlier, I got my January Glossybox in the first week of February. I was actually quite frustrated with their service; they charged me but hadn't sent any shipping notification. I just found it in my mail room one day. It was really well packaged, with a separate, very nice box that contained all the products. Also, it had a nice heft to it, which made it seem like real products instead of just trials. I really like everything in the box, and will continue to subscribe to it.

Last Minute Presents, or Presents for Next Year

Valentine's Day
Set Available Here
Need some present ideas? Maybe it's too late for this year, but one should always be thinking ahead. Also, do you really need a holiday to buy someone (or yourself) a little something? No. People should get presents every day.

Catullus has something for everyone. He's smutty and irreverent, but also sweet and romantic. He knows what a lady likes. I just bought a Gilt voucher for Gorjana, so I'm excited to buy one of their classic pieces. I really like this ring, but the necklaces are very nice as well. This heart umbrella is adorable--but anything whimsical and cute would be a nice surprise--I just wouldn't spend very much on it.

Taza chocolate is one of my favorites. It only has a few ingredients: chocolate, sugar, salt. It has a wonderful mouth feel and is delicious. Also, it's a small business that has trade partnerships with plantations committed to fair wages and sustainability. It's definitely a step up from Godiva. Speaking of sweets, beauty products are usually a safe way to go (as long as they're not cellulite removal creams). This Fresh sugar lip polish is a personal favorite; I use it twice a week to prevent chapping and flaking. Also, if a wee bit gets in your mouth, it tastes pretty good.

It's still February. Which means it's still pretty cold. When it's cold, pajamas are always welcome. (Pajamas are welcome when it's warm too, but go smaller.) I have a pair of J.Crew PJs, and I really like them. A nice pajama set always makes you feel like you have your shit together, even if you're wearing them on a Thursday afternoon. Finally, I own this Boden sweatshirt in a darker gray, andI love would kill someone for it. It's a cashmere hoodie. As in, you can be a slob, but at least you look like a wealthy slob. It's incredibly comfortable and warm (but not overly so) and it looks great. Seriously, no matter what you've done, this Boden sweatshirt will buy forgiveness.

Happy Valentine's Day!

penguin dress
If you look closely enough, this dress has little penguin pairs, holding flippers, with little white hearts for tummies. Perfect.

P.S. Penguins mate for life.

The Weekly Gimme: Whisky T-Shirt

$89, Bobo House
This is really a lot to spend on a t-shirt. I would almost say, too much. Also, what do the French know about whiskey?

However, if you look closely, the textile content promises that this will be a super comfortable shirt (modal!). Also, a girl can always use more t-shirts, especially nice ones that can be worn under a blazer or even with a nice skirt in a high-low look.

The Weekly Gimme: Frye Paige Tall Riding Boots

Yeah, I know. Weekly? The Gimmes are starting to get overwhelming. I've decided to go more toward quality than quantity, which explains this week's Gimme:

$378, Zappos
I was thinking the other day that I really need some gray boots. I was also thinking that I really needed a pair of Frye boots. Ta da! These boots are very simple, without much embellishment, which is what I'm into right now. In a world where everyone has buckles and studs and logos and other crap on their boots, it's actually refreshing and unique to have a plain boot.

Frye, obviously, has a great reputation for boots, so I know that these are made of quality leather and will last a long time. Considering that, the price point actually isn't too precious. The real question is deciding on a color among the many.
