Review: Whish Shave Cream

$20, Birchbox
The photo above is a Totes Adorb original. In the background is the Petit Piton and the Caribbean Sea. I got a deluxe sample of this shaving cream from my Birchbox two days before I left for Spring Break, and the timing could not have been better. Usually when I travel, I just use conditioner or body wash to shave, but I thought I would use something a little better this time.

I'm not a big fan of this stuff, even though Scot liked it. My biggest issue with it is the scent. It's way too sweet and blueberry-y and just sensory overload. However, the functionality of the product was like any other shaving cream. It was not particularly moisturizing, but it also didn't make me feel dry and icky. I had no problem with nicks during shaving, and the cream did not provide a closer or a less-close shave than the cheap Target stuff I use, which has a milder vanilla scent.

tl;dr: Not worth the price and the smell is overwhelming.

The Weekly Gimme: J. Crew Scalloped Dress

Scalloped dress
$168, J. Crew
I hate Boston. Really, I do. Why is it still cold? I want to wear pretty dresses in bright colors. Like this one. It would work equally well for both work and the weekend. Unfortunately, it is sold out on the website. I'll have to keep my eye on it.

Playing Hooky with the TA Cat

Just kidding. Class was cancelled for the day. Feels like Spring Break already . . .

"Spring Break? What about your paper?"

"Go back to work, missy."

Review: Fresh Elixir Ancien

This stuff is amazing. AMAZING. I got it on eBay for only $80, but it is totally worth the full price. First of all, the bottle should last a long time (probably half a year, if not more). I use only two drops at night, and it is pretty much miraculous. I know that a lot of reviewers exaggerate, but this is probably the only product that I would say is something I could no longer live without.

The Weekly Gimme: Lace Print Pencil Skirt

$118, Anthropologie
I have been an invalid lately, but copious amounts of pharmaceuticals and Tiger Balm are helping me get out of it. I have a sneaking suspicion that these "stress headaches" are caused by not enough shopping, and lo and behold, I felt much better after placing an order during Ann Taylor's 12-hour flash sale.

I like this skirt because it plays into the black-and-white trend of this spring but without being all Moddish and geometric. This seems like a skirt that you can wear for a long time. It would look just as good bare-legged as it would with black tights. It's something that is appropriate for work--but it isn't boring.

In other news, I can't wait for the Friends and Family season to get here. I have my eye on the Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Tote in a beautiful gray and the Frye Tall Paige boots, also in gray.

The Weekly Gimme: Media Bracelet

Media Bracelet
$100, Dirty Librarian Chains
This retailer has a gross, yet titillating name. It's pretty cool because each bracelet is made from the chains of four different vintage necklaces. It's also considered eco/sustainable jewelry. I'm not really sure what that means.
